The Neurotoxin-Botox Blend

Botox has earned the reputation as the gold standard in wrinkle reducers, but there’s a lot more that the neurotoxin can do. From slimming the jawline to creating the illusion of larger lips, the popular neurotoxin Botox stands ahead of the competition for good reason. Even though the evolution of cosmetic treatments continues to prioritize natural-looking results, Botox consistently leaves skin smooth, wrinkle-free, and youthful, so you look like yourself, just better. Considering how successful neurotoxin can be,  a Botox blend consisting of different neurotoxins may be right for you.

Botox: More than a Wrinkle Eraser

The neurotoxin Botox is an injectable botulinum toxin type A derived from the clostridium botulinum bacteria, as are all other brands of neurotoxins. One hundred percent safe to inject into the face (and elsewhere on the body), Botox is a minimally invasive treatment that has become a household name over the past 25 years. What was once a hush-hush treatment is now something that patients talk openly about.

The Botox discovery was purely accidental. An eye doctor used Botox to treat a blepharospasm patient (Botox was first approved for medical use). With repeated injections, the doctor noticed that the lines in her forehead started to disappear, which sparked research and discovery into how the neurotoxin works. Years later, the neurotoxin Botox first received FDA approval for treating the glabellar lines, or the 11s, as they are commonly known.

Its cosmetic applications have made Botox and other types of neurotoxins for the face popular aesthetic treatments. Still, the injectable serves a purpose for other conditions, including overactive bladder, chronic migraine, neck and eye spasms, and excessive sweating. By limiting muscle movement, which contributes to these disorders, the neurotoxin Botox can restrict or prevent symptoms from occurring. Albeit a temporary fix, most patients appreciate the freedom and improvement they feel and see and maintain regular injections for improvement. Additional off-label non-cosmetic uses of Botox are continually being discovered, with reports of new treatment areas and symptom-improving effects.

The Neurotoxin Family

Botox is by far the most popular neurotoxin, but four other brands compete with Botox and fall under the neurotoxin umbrella. Of course, each differs slightly from one to the next, with its own set of pros and cons. All FDA-approved injectable neurotoxins are derived from the same Clostridium botulinum bacteria.

Dysport

This FDA-approved neurotoxin injectable temporarily delays wrinkle formation. It reduces muscle activity in the treated area, preventing the skin from creating wrinkles. Dysport works well for eliminating the look of moderate to severe wrinkles between the eyebrows, forehead, and neck. It can also improve cervical dystonia (an involuntary muscle contraction condition).

Dysport has a quick onset, sometimes showing improvement in the look of wrinkles as soon as two to three days after the treatment. It also tends to be more diffuse, meaning it can spread more amongst an area, making it a good choice for treating larger areas of the face, like the forehead.

Xeomin

Xeomin is FDA-approved to treat the “11” lines in the brows and frown lines by blocking muscle contraction, which smoothes the skin. Xeomin is a purer neurotoxin because it is formulated without proteins, making it less likely to cause allergic reactions. This “more natural” neurotoxin can take three to seven days for the results to surface on the skin.

Why You May Need a Neurotoxin Botox Blend

You may benefit from a combination approach incorporating a blend of numerous toxin treatments like Botox to garner the best results from your neurotoxin Botox treatment. A customized approach to neurotoxin treatments allows for enhanced results, especially since some areas of the face may respond better to one type of neurotoxin.

The concept of a neurotoxin Botox cocktail is innovative and advanced. It’s a technique that only an experienced injector, like the team at Ecobel Medical Spa, should perform. Plus, taking a customized injection approach to different facial zones requires appropriate dosing. Areas where blending neurotoxins can lead to superior outcomes include lifting the brow, softening deep wrinkles, the Nefreti jawline-neck lift, and even a lip lift. Microtox doses, which consist of smaller-than-normal amounts of the neurotoxin Botox, can also be incorporated into the overall treatment plan.
